Young: Hoover Lied to Kennedy About MLK

Young: Hoover Lied to Kennedy About MLK: "Ill feelings expressed about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by former first lady Jackie Kennedy in interviews released earlier this week are a direct result of lies about the civil rights leader spread by longtime FBI head J.Edgar Hoover, said Andrew Young, one of King’s lieutenants in the movement.

In an exclusive interview Tuesday on "The Tom Joyner Morning Show," Young, a former United Nations ambassador and King confidant, detailed the great effort taken by Hoover to discredit King and undermine the civil rights movement.

Two Congressional committees in the 1970s investigated the tapes of Jackie Kennedy recorded in 1964, not long after the 1963 assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. “There were FBI agents who said they felt they had to come back with dirt on Dr. King because if they did not, they could lose their job or be sent to faraway places,” Young said."
