Pregnant teen shot dead, baby saved | The Chicago Local - Yahoo! News: A pregnant teenager is dead after a shooting on the city's Southwest Side, but the girl's unborn baby was saved.
As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, authorities say the unborn child was in stable condition when the mother, Charinez Jefferson, 17, who was six months pregnant, was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn after the shooting. It was unclear how the preemie, a boy, was doing as of 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Jefferson was shot multiple times and suffered a wound to the head, as she walked with a group of people around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of West 64th Street in the Marquette Park neighborhood.
Police say the suspect, a man the group did not know, got out of a car and walked up to them. Then he opened fire.
