CNN reporter, briefly in Syria, hears 'horror' stories - CNN.com: "(CNN) -- As the Syrian military relentlessly advances against protesters, ordinary citizens are fleeing their homes and racing for safety. And they have 'horror story upon horror story,' according to CNN's Arwa Damon.
Despite the Syrian government's consistent refusal to give CNN and other news organizations official permission to enter the country, Damon managed to cross the Turkish border and get into Syria for a few hours Tuesday.
She spoke to people at a muddy makeshift campsite who were using only trees for shelter. One family said they had to spend a whole night on their feet because of the muddy conditions.
A number of people witnessed bombings around Jisr al-Shugur, the northwestern Syrian city where people have fled as government troops advanced. One man said soldiers shot at him, and a woman said she witnessed death."
