Doctor Alleges Dirty Instruments At Columbia Hospital - Milwaukee News Story - WISN Milwaukee: "MILWAUKEE -- Last fall, 12 News revealed that cuts to Columbia Hospital's Infection Control Program may have resulted in dirty surgical instruments and an increase in staph infections.
Thursday, a surgeon-turned-whistleblower spoke out for the first time.
The allegations date back to 2008, when Dr. James Stoll alleged that budget cuts were resulting in an increase of bacterial infections in the old Columbia Hospital.
When 12 News spoke to Stoll last fall, he was bound by a gag order.
'Unfortunately I am under a judicial order not to speak about these events,' he told 12 News' Colleen Henry last fall.
Today, Stoll told his story in court as well as 12 News.
On Thursday, Stoll told a jury he believed dirty surgical instruments resulted in an increase in staph infections at the old hospital, including the deadly MRSA bacteria. Cindy Patrick is a plaintiff in the case, and claims she contracted a deadly infection during surgery at the old Columbia Hospital."
