Tornado Victims 'Fight Off Looters With Crowbars' - Boston News Story - WCVB Boston: "MONSON, Mass. -- Looting has also become a problem in the tornado-ravaged town of Monson.
On Stewart Avenue, among the hardest-hit streets in the town, Diana Walker said the looting started almost immediately after the tornado hit Wednesday. Walker, of Wilbraham, came to Monson to assist a friend whose home was toppled in the storm.
Television and jewelry were taken from the wreckage of the house, she said. Neighbors took to using crowbars to keep looters away.
'Broad daylight yesterday, there were guys who were stealing stuff off my neighbor's lawn,' Monson resident Douglas North said. 'They just walked up and started picking stuff up. All this screaming and yelling started, and we had to chase these guys off. We don't need that stuff here.'"
